After running Conrad Catering and Deli for over 40 years, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my plans to retire at the end of October and the closure of the business. Our last day in business will be Friday, October 29th. My father, Ed Savolskis Sr, started Conrad Catering in 1955. While growing up, I worked closely with him and my mom, my sisters, and numerous other family members. In 1981, I took over the business. Over the next four decades, I was fortunate to continue the tradition of working with family. Heartfelt thanks to my late father, my wonderful wife, our children, and my sisters. I’ve been blessed to have shared so many memories with all of you.

A very special thank you to all our current and past employees that I had the pleasure of working with over the years. Your hard work and dedication contributed to our success. Your commitment to our customers was always outstanding. I couldn’t have done it without all of you! Thank you.

I’d like to thank the community and our loyal customers for the support and success we had over the last 65 years. Whether it was grabbing lunch in the deli or choosing us to cater your special events, thank you for placing your trust in us to provide the meal for that occasion. We were honored that you chose Conrad Catering.

While I plan to retire to spend more time with my family, the business is for sale. For serious inquiries only, please contact me at 412-462-3534. I’d love to hear your favorite memories in the comments below, and I hope to see all of you over the next two months. Thank you and God Bless,

Ed Savolskis Jr

  1. Thank you for the many kindnesses you extended to my aunt, Rose Marie Frinsco, as COVID raged on and made it very challenging for her to get groceries and meals. She passed away on January 13, 2021, and I believe you delivered a wonderful New Year’s meal to her just a few weeks before. Your business will be missed.

  2. I told this story to Ed.  When our children and friends were graduating and having parties, the caterer was very important.  I was directed to quietly find out who was catering which party.  If it was Conrad or Emils, we went to that party first.   “Ate the good stuff”, then went to the other parties to drink.

  3. So sorry to hear this!
I have purchased many lunches from you and loved every single one. Every Christmas Eve, we picked up 4 dozen pirogies for my husbands Slovak traditional Christmas Eve dinner.
Thanks so much for all your and your staff ‘s hard work!

  5. Ed I knew you when you worked with your father, you were a teenager then. I can not believe it has been forty years since you took over the business. Enjoy your retirement. Lexie
